About

Your starting point on African literature reviews and more. A voracious reader who takes pleasure in reading books by African writers. In 2009, my love for books led me to Shelfari. Whereupon, I started searching for African Literature blogs, however, it was of no avail. Thereby, I decided to create Mary Okeke Reviews. Interestingly, following that, I stumbled upon many fascinating blogs promoting African literature with so much zeal. Herein, you can still find some reviews that do not belong to the African Literature. All in all, I hope you enjoy your time here. Please, do not hesitate to leave your comments.

Review Policy
Since I have been requested to read and review a good number of novels on my blog, and quite a few I have turned down, I thought it would be wise to write a review policy. I review African literature.
  • All books sent to me are considered for review.
  • I read first pages, if it kindles my interest, I'll go ahead and devour it.
  • I write my blog out of passion. I owe myself and my readers the truth. Therefore, I write my opinion.
  • If you want your novel to be read and reviewed on a particular date, please contact me 6-8 weeks before the particular date.
  • I prefer hard copies.
  • I reserve the right to accept or reject a request.
  • Links to my reviews are posted on my blog, Goodreads, Google +, Twitter, Facebook,
  • Please click here to contact me

    2. Mary - I hope this is a good way to communicate with you. Just want you to know that my Africa Trilogy was completed on January 15 with release of my final book, "Africa's Heart." This book and the two previous ones, "Africa's Embrace" and "Africa's Release" are available on Amazon.com. If you provide me with a mailing address, I will send to you complementary copies. Best, Mark Wentling

  5. Mary, great work here! I have been touring the site and I love it.
I have a publisher for my book, but need to ensure it gets the exposure that it requires.

I wonder if you'd find time to Review it? It meets the requirements of your books to review, but I know you could be "tied up." If you let me have your email I 'll send the first 3 -5 chapters to you in required format.

  6. Hello, Mary. I found your blog through a comment you left on Nana Prah's blog. I'm in deep admiration of what you're doing here, reviewing African literature. I am a writer myself, and must say that I was a bit gutted to find out you don't review speculative fiction books, since that is what I write primarily. Anyway, keep up the good work, and do feel free to drop by over at my blog someday:
